Final Grades –
“NX” has been added as a final grade option for this semester.  This option is reserved for students that fell just short of meeting mastery in your course, and offers the student an additional 6 weeks from the end of the term to show mastery.  If you choose this option for a student and the student does not produce the work that shows their mastery within the six weeks, the NX grade will automatically switch to an “F.”  If and when a student shows mastery, email Mr. Liu stating the students new updated grade is all.
Graduation –
The 2017 graduation will be held at Iona College’s Murphy Auditorium on June 21st 2017 at 12:00pm.  If you are interested in attending graduation please email Mr. Liu by Thursday June 15th. Staff that stay behind will be given individualized responsibilities.
Consolidation Updates –
·          The newly established consolidated Student Culture and Orientation Team has begun working on events for staff and students; you can follow the work on the ongoing Consolidation Agenda.  Boxes will be made available Friday morning 6/16.  Custodial staff will be leaving 5 boxes in each classroom.  Items such as sets of books don’t need to be packed, just labeled as a set.  Items in cabinets that are fragile should be secured, as the movers will be moving the cabinets as a set.  Items in permanent closets must be secured and packed as well.
·          ANY ITEMS NOT LABELED WILL BE EITHER BE THROWN AWAY OR WILL BE SECURED BY THE SCHOOL TO BE LOST FOREVER.
Air Conditioners –
Please keep your Air Conditioners at 70 degrees.  The temperature setting does not affect the cooling temperature of the air conditioner, it sets the temperature in which the A/C can shut off and go into fan mode.  Keeping it at 70 will allow the A/C to shut off at night, thus preserving the longevity of the unit.  Mayor DeBlasio is supporting A/C for all schools, so we have been instructed to not purchase new A/C’s before this summer and wait for them to be centrally funded, which means if they break, it will take a long time for them to be replaced.
Open Market Hiring System
The New York City Open Market Hiring System has opened and will be available through August. The system is used by teachers and other staff to view and apply for opportunities across the city.
