Successful PNA Peace in the Streets Day!

Thank you to everyone who participated in the PNA Peace in the Streets Day. Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. was impressed by our students. Andrew Sanchez presented the Borough President with the chart paper containing the stories from PNA students. The day was truly a success. Check out the hallway TV screens for pictures from the event!

Entrepreneurship Students’ Surveys

Ms. Zhu’s Entrepreneurship students are working on market research for their business plan projects. The students have created electronic surveys. Please take a few moments to complete the surveys. They can be found at the links below. You are also encouraged to pass the surveys along to others (the students are trying to get at least ten responses each).

Common Core Standards & Curriculum Mapping Professional Development Opportunities

Our network is offering teachers the opportunity to work with the Center for Professional Education of Teachers at Teacher’s College on integrating the Common Core State Standards into curriculum maps and unit plans. The sessions take place from 4:00 to 6:30. Dates and locations are included in the Byam Network Common Core Standards and Curriculum Mapping Sessions document that was attached to this week’s Weekly Update email. Please reply to the Weekly Update email if you are interested in attending.

Recycle Request from Ms. O’Connell

Ms. O’Connell’s Art classes will be building large structures that represent Ancient Greece using recycled materials. She is looking for donations of recycled items. A list of the items needed is included in the Recycle Request letter that was attached to this week’s Weekly Update email. Please contact Ms. O’Connell if you are interested in donating or have questions.

“4” Keys

We have placed an order for additional “4” keys with the custodial staff. Keys will be distributed to staff members as soon as they become available.

Secure Valuables and Personal Items

ALWAYS lock your personal belongings and valuables such as purses, laptops, etc. All property provided by the school, including property purchased with Teacher’s Choice money or property purchased by a staff member and reimbursed by the school, is considered school property. Staff members are responsible for the care of ALL equipment and materials in their classrooms. This includes computers, LCD projectors, overheads, supplies, books, furniture, and walls (making sure they stay graffiti-free). Contact Mr. Liu (dliu2@schools.nyc.gov) if you assistance securing items.

Spring Break Preparation

Friday, April 15th is the last day of school before Spring Break. Before you leave, ensure personal items are locked-up. Equipment (such as laptop carts, projectors, etc.) will be removed from classrooms for storage in a more secure location. Please remove all personal items from the carts. Student chairs should be placed on desks so classroom floors can be cleaned.

Request for Payment of Daytime Activities (REMINDER)

As a reminder, the “Request for Payment of Daytime Activities” sheets should be filled out and submitted with student sign-in sheets. Copies of the form are available in the main office. These forms should be submitted by close of business on the day the activity was performed.
