Teacher Scholarship Best Practices

All teachers completed scholarship surveys based on the color of their results. Teachers whose scholarship was green (75% or above) completed a survey so best practices could be shared. Please take a moment and review the document entitled “Teacher Scholarship Best Practices” that was attached to this week’s Weekly Update email. Reply to this week’s Weekly Update email if you would like to discuss scholarship best practices with a colleague.

NYSESLAT Testing Begins

NYSESLAT testing begins this week for our ELL students. Ms. Linares, Ms. Agosta, and Mr. Caldeira will begin administering the speaking portion of the exam on Monday. This is a one-on-one test that takes around 15 minutes per student. There are 55 ELL students attending PNA, and approximately three students per period will be pulled from your classes to take the exam. The testing schedule is attached to this week’s Weekly Update email. Contact Ms. Heller (aheller7@schools.nyc.gov) if you have any questions.

Mock Regents and Field Day

In order to gather additional data to target instruction for the remainder of the school year, all students will take two mock Regents exams this Wednesday. Each exam is scheduled to last two hours. A proctor schedule will be distributed. All teachers will be proctoring some portion of an exam. We will have our second Field Day of the year after the exams (around 12:30). Department and grade team meetings are cancelled this week so all staff can participate in Field Day. The staff responsibility sign-up sheet will be next to the morning attendance when you come in on Monday. Please ensure you sign up. If you have questions, contact Monica (monicanyc@yahoo.com).

Save Your Boxes!

All teachers will be moving to a different classroom next year and this summer all rooms will be thoroughly cleaned. In addition to removing everything from walls and bulletin boards, all teachers will be required to pack all items in their rooms and label the boxes (so they can be moved to new rooms this summer). All personal belongings should either be packed in boxes or taken home (this includes the Teacher’s Lounge (room 407A) and the Science Prep area (room 465). More details will be communicated in the coming weeks. Please begin to save your boxes!

PNA Youth Court

The PNA Youth Court is meeting on Monday from 3:00 to 4:00. The team will continue planning the implementation of the Youth Court into PNA. One next step is to begin to identify students who will participate in the youth court. All are welcome and encouraged to attend Monday’s meeting. Contact Mr. Dinner (ldinner@gmail.com) if you have any questions.

Co-Interpretation Meeting

The last phase of the Curriculum Audit that is being conducted by the state is a Co-Interpretation meeting. This meeting will take place on Tuesday, March 17th in the library. Staff members will be contacted this week and asked to participate.

PNA College Fair

The PNA College Fair is coming. This year’s fair will take place in the library. Classes will be scheduled to attend during the school day. More details will be communicated in the coming days. Contact Ms. Petrone (riarea1219@aol.com) if you have questions.
