Mr. Morales

As you know, Mr. Morales was involved in a serious car accident over vacation. As stated in Ms. Barton’s updates, he continues to improve and hopefully will be back with us soon. Please assist in lifting his spirits by sending him emails. His email address is barranco57@optonline.com.

PNA Youth Court

The PNA Youth Court is up and running! Mr. Dinner, Ms. O’Connell and their students have spent hours training. Parents are also being notified of this wonderful addition to the school. Click the link below to read the letter that was sent home to parents this week.

Common Core PD Opportunity

In partnership with CFN 404 and NCREST, ISA is excited to provide a set of workshops that brings together how to apply critical elements of the Common Core Learning Standards (CCLS), how to develop meaningful performance tasks and, most importantly, how our work in this domain relates to what we do each day in our classes. Whether you had the opportunity to participate in the Fall Workshop Series on Performance Task Creation, have strong expertise in this area, or are entering new pedagogical territory, we believe this new set of workshops will spark new insights and be very useful in your classroom practice.

For a full description of the workshops and to REGISTER, interested parties should click on this link:

The date is March 14th at Teacher’s College in Manhattan. Also fill out the Request to Attend an Outside PD form if you would like to register.

Mopping Classroom Floors (REMINDER)

Joseph, our custodian, has said that he will mop classroom floors on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. If you would like your classroom floors mopped on these days, you must ensure that all chairs are put up on desks at the end of the day. Only classrooms with the chairs up will be mopped.

Intramural Basketball (Reminder)

Intramural basketball has begun and PNA is a strong contender this year. A list of the students on the team can be found at the following link:

Please assist us with motivating these students to maintain good attendance, behavior, and grades. If a student’s behavior, attendance, or grades are not satisfactory, inform Ms. Cook (scook6@schools.nyc.gov). In addition, please help support Mr. Cruz and Pedro.
