Thank you to staff
The admin team would like to thank the staff for their commitment to the school.  We made gains in our Quality Review, and the Deputy Chancellor said they are hearing positive things about PNA.  The Superintendent acknowledged a clear growth in our lesson plans and our planning in general around high level objectives and essential questions. 

We need to remember that the foundation we have already built must remain stable in order for us to take the next step.  While these two weeks have given us a reason to celebrate, the work will never be over when we are supporting children.  But for this weekend, we should give ourselves at least a pat on the back… before we work harder to be even better.
Chairs on tables (Reminder)
The custodial staff wanted to recognize all the teachers that are having students put chairs on desks.  This has allowed them time to do larger projects, such as buffing floors, touching up paint, and so on.  In the mornings, please have your students take down ALL of the chairs.  Having chairs on the tables during instructional time is a Safety Hazard.

Declaration of Intention Form (Action Required)
Declaration of intention forms have been placed in teacher mailboxes.  Please look at the projected courses to be offered on the second sheet when making your preference selections.  The form is due to Mr. Valencia by Monday, June 2, 2014.  The form can also be found at the following link:
Open Market Hiring System
The New York City Open Market Hiring System opened Tuesday, April 15th and will be available through August. The system is used by teachers and other staff to view and apply for opportunities across the city. The system can be accessed at the following link:
Summer School Instructional Program online application (Teachers and Paraprofessionals)
The application to be considered to work for Summer School opened on May 13th.  In order to work during the summer for any per session activity you must submit an application by June 10th.  The application can be accessed at the following link:
Life Space Crisis Intervention – Summer Training
LSCI is a six day course designed to train teachers to teach students better ways to respond to future stressful events.  The training is free to teachers, guidance counselors, and social workers.  There are 2 Summer Cohorts held at Marta Valle HS:
Cohort A: July 7, 8, 14, 15, 21, 22; Cohort B: July 9, 10, 16, 17, 23, 24.
If you are interested please email Mr. Liu (dliu@pablonerudaacademy.org) indicating your interest, which cohort you would like to join, as well as if you want to take the training for a P credit or want to get paid training rate.
Yankee Game
