Veteran’s Day – No School

Best Wishes to Ms. Yolanda Santos
Ms. Yolanda Santos will be leaving PNA after 5 years as Parent Coordinator.  She will be joining another Bronx School as their new Payroll Secretary.  Her dedication to the parents will be missed.
Congratulations Victoria and Lisette
Ms. Victoria Cipollaro will be expanding her role with our school to take on some attendance responsibilities as well as continuing her work with campus records.  Lisette Pacheco will be reducing her responsibilities in attendance and will be taking on the responsibilities of Parent Coordinator.  Please support Victoria and Lissette as they settle into their new roles next week.
End of day procedure
As a reminder, student passes should not be granted during the first or last 10 minutes of each period.  Adhering to this policy allows the safety team and fellow teachers an opportunity to usher in the school community to the next class without differentiating those students with passes from those students who are stalling in the hallway.  This policy is most needed at the end of day as the safety team is setting up for cellphone distribution.
UFT Teacher Center
The Bronx Guild has received a grant that awards them a UFT Teacher Center Coach for 2 days a week for the next five years.  The Bronx Guild has offered the coaching services to be opened to teachers in both schools.  PNA has offered the teacher’s lounge as a space for the coach to be in order to do their work.  The UFT Coaches began introducing themselves in the lounge last week.  Their goal for the first month is to get to know the staff and begin building coaching relationships for those who would want their support.  For more information about the UFT Teacher Center please visit their website at http://www.uft.org/teaching/uft-teacher-center
Youth Court Go Fund Me Page
Mr. Dinner and Mr. Soto have created a GoFundMe campaign to support the Youth Court officers.  Please share the link (https://www.gofundme.com/RJPunis) to help support awareness for their campaign.
7th period daily attendance (UPDATE)
The NYCDOE ATS system is unable to be used for our needs at this time.  While the central team is working on a solution, we will be adopting the same policy as 1st period attendance calls.  The attendance team will be pulling 7th as well as 1st period attendance from Skedula in order to make automated phone calls to students that were absent and late for 1st period and/or absent for 7th period.
Life Space Crisis Intervention
LSCI is a six day course designed to train teachers to teach students better ways to respond to future stressful events.  The training is available to all staff interested.  The next cohort begins December 10th.  If you are interested please email Mr. Liu (dliu@pablonerudaacademy.org) indicating your interest, as well as if you want to take the training for a P credit or want to get paid training rate.
