Student lateness
As a reminder, students should not be restricted from entering class because of lateness.  Lateness should be documented and followed with a suitable progressive disciplinary response.  A suggested ladder of referral can be found in the staff handbook.  Documentation of lateness and parent outreach can lead to a dean’s referral at which point the safety team will follow up and continue with a progressive disciplinary response.
Students leaving classrooms
As a reminder, please follow the proper protocol, as stated in the staff handbook, when you allow students to leave your classroom. Review the following:
·          Students visiting the restroom – Student should sign the bathroom log, and use the bathroom pass.  Only one student should be out at a time to use the restroom.  The safety team logs their use of the restroom with the bathroom log.
·          Students visiting the office – Student should be given a written pass to the office.
·          Student who needs a break from the classroom – Student should be escorted out by a member of the safety team.  The safety team logs the classroom removal, and is able to communicate with the teacher(s) on whether the student is able to return.
Following the proper protocol will allow us to maintain a positive hallway culture where safety can address students who are not following procedure.  This will also maintain clear lines of communication between the safety team and the teachers.
PNA Holiday Potluck
The PNA Holiday Potluck has been scheduled and organized by the PNA Culture Team for December 16th.  Staff interested in participating in our potluck should document their planned contribution by adding it to the Holiday Potluck Doc: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1HBT59na3IziQWoS_Pa_mxo9lKOJoq8QHEgWCFODlrOg/edit?ts=583d831f
To accommodate the potluck, the staff meeting scheduled for December 9th has been moved to the 16th.
Test Administration Handbook
As January Regent examinations are approaching, please take a moment to review the Test Administration Handbook: https://drive.google.com/a/pablonerudaacademy.org/file/d/0B3PxGWud2LygYi1XZU1TMzM2ZWM/view?usp=sharing
Staff Eating Space
NYCDOE regulations states that food should only be eaten in staff lounges to prevent the spread of vermin and roaches.  However, with the amount of work that we all do, please feel free to eat in classrooms without students and/or at your personal desk in shared offices as additional options.  We ask that the main office not be used for lunch in order to be prepared for parents and staff concerns.
UFT Teacher Center
The Bronx Guild has received a grant that awards them a UFT Teacher Center Coach for 2 days a week for the next five years.  The Bronx Guild has offered the coaching services to be opened to teachers in both schools.  PNA has offered the teacher’s lounge as a space for the coach to be in order to do their work.  The UFT Coaches began introducing themselves in the lounge last month.  Their goal for the first month is to get to know the staff and begin building coaching relationships for those who would want their support.  For more information about the UFT Teacher Center please visit their website at http://www.uft.org/teaching/uft-teacher-center
Youth Court Go Fund Me Page
Mr. Dinner and Mr. Soto have created a GoFundMe campaign to support the Youth Court officers.  Please share the link (https://www.gofundme.com/RJPunis) to help support awareness for their campaign.
