New Teacher Meeting

June 24th Schedule

Friday, June 24th is a rating day; students will not be in attendance. All teachers will report for session one (8:00 am to 2:50 pm) on this day. On the morning of the 24th, you will be asked to sign-up for an activity for the day. Activities for this day include: cleaning your spaces, cleaning common spaces (such as the teacher’s lounge and the science prep room), working on curriculum maps, item analysis of Regents exams, locker/hallway clear-out, etc. Please note that some teachers will be assigned to grade on this day for exams that still need to be scored (i.e. the Geometry exams).

Request to Attend Graduation

The PNA class of 2011 will graduate on Monday, June 27th at Iona College. The ceremony will begin at 2:00 pm. If you would like to be released early so you are able to attend the ceremony, email Mr. Liu (dliu2@schools.nyc.gov) by Thursday, June 23rd. You must receive prior approval to attend.

End of Year Self-Assessment (REMINDER)

All teachers must complete the PNA End of Year Self-Assessment prior to scheduling an end of year ratings meeting with Gizette. In order to complete the self-assessment, you will need your professional goal and the PNA Instructional Framework Rubric. See Ms. Cook if you need assistance (scook6@schools.nyc.gov).

Summer School Posting (REMINDER)

PNA will be running summer school credit recovery in three sessions between July 11th and August 9th. The posting can found at the following link: https://sites.google.com/site/pnapostings/. Interested applicants should apply by Wednesday, June 22nd.

Teacher Gradebooks

As you close out the 2010 – 2011 school year, please ensure that you keep your gradebook for all of your classes. All teachers are required to keep their gradebooks for seven years before disposing of them. If you would like the school to archive your gradebook for you, please submit a copy to Gizette prior to your departure on Tuesday, June 28th.

Network Summer PD Opportunity (REMINDER)

Our network is hosting a four day summer institute around planning and implementing the New York State Common Core Standards. Creating and implementing a performance task that is aligned to the Common Core Standards will be a requirement for all teachers next year. This four day institute will aide teachers in understanding and beginning this work. The institute will take place July 11 through July 14 from 9:00am to 3:00pm. Each of the four days will take place at Teacher’s College, Columbia University. Email Ms. Cook (scook6@schools.nyc.gov) if you are interested.

Open Market Hiring System for Transfers (REMINDER)
