Back to School Kick-Off & Honor Roll Celebration

Wednesday, September 21st is the PNA Back to School Kick-Off & Honor Roll Celebration. We are inviting parents to the school to meet their students’ teachers and visit their classrooms. A Spring Honor Roll Celebration and the monthly Parent Association meeting will also take place. This is an important opportunity for staff to meet parents and welcome them to PNA for the school year. All staff are strongly encouraged to attend.

Bulletin Boards

Per the PNA Staff Handbook, all hallway bulletin boards should showcase work for the Back to School Kick-Off by September 20th. For a list of hallway bulletin board assignments and additional details regarding expectations around bulletin board displays, see the PNA Staff Handboook.

Hallway Displays

In an effort to keep the hallways neat, if you are hanging a display in the hallway (such as a sign, student project, etc.), please ensure you hang it above the blue and yellow lines. This will help prevent them from getting damaged and preserve the paint that was refreshed during the summer.

Observations Begin

Classroom observations begin this week. This includes formal observations, informal observations, and walkthroughs. Expect visitors to your classrooms.

Professional Responsibilities Goal Setting

All teachers received a copy of their Professional Responsibilities Reflection & Self-Assessment that was completed on Tuesday, September 6th. The next step is to set a Professional Responsibilities goal for the year. Please complete the PNA Professional Responsibilities Goal Setting Form. The form can be found at the following link:

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/viewform?hl=en_US&formkey=dERHVGZrb242ZGlVV1RLTTZuOWw5ZUE6MQ#gid=0

The form should be completed by Friday, September 23rd.

Skedula

If you are having any technical difficulties with or have questions about Skedula, immediately email Mr. Liu (dliu2@schools.nyc.gov) so he can address the concern. All difficulties and questions are more quickly addressed via email.

Letter from Chancellor Walcott

This week, Chancellor Walcott sent a letter to all DOE teachers regarding this year’s Instructional Expectations. A copy of this letter can be found at the following link:

Performance Series Testing Continues

This Monday through Thursday, all 10th through 12th grade English teachers will be administering Performance Series tests in their classes. As a result, there will be limited access to laptop carts throughout the week. You may still request carts for your classroom, however, there will be certain periods of each day when all carts are allocated to testing classrooms.
