Saturday’s BISCEP Retreat
This week all staff members received a flier in their mailbox inviting you to a BISCEP Retreat this Saturday, March 17th. All staff members are welcome to attend. If you are interested in attending, email Mr. Liu (dliu2@schools.nyc.gov) ASAP so that he can set aside the funds. Per session will be paid. You will need to bring technology (i.e. netbook, laptop, etc.) with you to the retreat.

New Staff Entry Procedures
Due to feedback the campus received from representatives from Tweed during the last GRP drill, effective immediately there are new entry procedures for staff. In the mornings, staff may enter through the 180 cafeteria between 7:30 and 8:30 am. Upon entry, you will need to present identification. Pedro is making PNA ID cards for all staff members. If you arrive prior to 7:30 or after 8:30, you will need to go through the front entrance. If you are entering the building on Saturday or Sunday, please be prepared to show ID. Assessment/Data Best Practices
An instructional walkthrough was recently conducted. The Instructional Framework area “Assessment/Data” was the lens for the walkthrough. Data was collected through observation of hallway bulletin boards. All teachers who have hallway boards received the low inference observations. Cutting Phone Calls
In an effort to support attendance as the weather gets warmer, this week PNA began making phone calls to the homes of students who cut one or more classes the previous week. Parents receive an automated message asking them to contact the school regarding their child missing one or more classes on a day when they were marked present. Period attendance is being used to generate the list of students. In order for this initiative to be effective, it is imperative that accurate attendance is submitted in a timely manner. We have begun to receive many phone calls from parents who received the message this week. Please be prepared to discuss this information when you are reaching out to parents. Period attendance details for students can be found on Skedula. If you need assistance locating this information in the Skedula system, contact Mr. Liu (dliu2@schools.nyc.gov).

Office of Assessment Policy, Development & Administration Workshop
The Office of Assessment Policy, Development and Administration of the State Education Department is seeking general and special education teachers of grades 3-12 to participate in a workshop on May 22 and 23, 2012, in Albany, to align the New York State Alternate Assessment (NYSAA) to the Common Core Learning Standards in English language arts and mathematics. Meals, travel and a per diem will be provided. Interested teachers should complete and submit an application form by April 11, 2012. The application can be found at:
