Instructional Walkthrough with the Superintendent
The Superintendent will be visiting classrooms on Thursday, October 4th. The network will be present as well. All teachers should expect visits to their rooms. Please ensure that you have a lesson plan accessible for visitors. When planning lessons for this day, ensure you are paying particular attention to the Instructional Feedback Focuses outlined in the 2012-2013 PNA Instructional Expectations. Contact Ms. Cook with any questions (scook@pablonerudaacademy.org). The PNA Instructional Expectations are attached to the bottom of the PNA homepage at https://sites.google.com/site/pablonerudaacademynyc/
PNA Field Day & Activities Fair Re-Scheduled
The rained-out Field Day has been re-scheduled for Friday, October 5th. As a reminder, the Field Day will include an Activities Fair, where students will be able to sign-up for afterschool and lunchtime clubs/activities that they are interested in. Instead of attending Department and Grade Team Meetings, all staff members will be participating in Field Day activities.
Staff Meeting
There will be a Staff Meeting following Field Day. The full staff will meet in room 485. We will be reviewing the October and November calendars. There will also be Respect for All training by Ms. Millie and a review of the General Response Protocols by Mr. Liu.
PBIS
One of the PNA Instructional Expectations focus areas asks all teachers to fully adopt the PNA PBIS Program in their classrooms. When conducting observations, administrators are looking for evidence of the integration in the lesson. All teachers should ensure they are participating. See your Grade Team Leader if you have any questions.
Place Chairs on Desks at the End of Each Day
In order to support our custodians, effective immediately, please ensure that your last class places their chairs on their desks before leaving each day. Contact Mr. Liu if you have questions (dliu@pablonerudaacademy.org).
Course Information Form
The PNA Accreditation Committee has begun reviewing curriculum maps for feedback and approval. All teachers should complete the Course Information Form for each of the courses they teach. Please take a few moments and complete this short form by Friday, October 5th. Contact Ms. Cook (scook@pablonerudaacademy.org) if you have questions. The form can be found at the following link:
Look Like a Student (REMINDER)
Part of the PNA PBIS program asks students to “Look Like a Student”. This includes hats off, pants pulled up, back-packs off, heads up, and following the PNA dress code. Please ensure that all students “look like students” in your classrooms at all times. Ensure you address any student who has their head down.
PNA Email Groups (REMINDER)
One advantage of the new @pablonerudaacademy.org email addresses is the increased ability to quickly email a group. There are several groups that you can use (such as grade teams, departments, administration, etc.). A list of available groups can be found on the second page of the document found at the following link:
New York Cares Day @ PNA (REMINDER)
Save the date! PNA will be hosting our second New York Cares Day on Saturday, October 13th. Volunteers will be working on projects around the campus, most importantly the re-painting of the gym corridor. This will once again be an amazing opportunity for our school to come together with students, staff, and families of schools on the campus, as well as volunteers from all over NYC and beyond and work on improving our campus. Staff participation is needed and strongly encouraged. More details will be communicated in the coming weeks. See Mr. Barnes (cbarnes@pablonerudaacademy.org) if you have questions.
