4th Marking Period Ends
The 4th marking period ends on Tuesday, December 18th. Grades are due by 8:00 am on Friday, December 21st. It is imperative that grades are submitted on time due to data being pulled by 9:00 am on that day for scholarship reports. Contact Mr. Liu (dliu@pablonerudaacademy.org) if you have questions.
Teaching Expectations for the Week
All grade teams are expected to run regular schedules with bell-to-bell instruction from Monday through Thursday. Grade teams should work on a plan for Friday. All teachers should ensure they are informing students of the grade team’s plan and encourage students to attend on this day. Contact your grade team leader if you have questions.
Staff Potluck
In lieu of department, grade team, and staff meetings, there will be a Staff Holiday Potluck from 12:30pm to 2:00pm on Friday, December 21st. The sign-up sheet is at the front desk in the main office. All staff members are encouraged to bring something to share. See Mr. Torres (ttorres@pablonerudaacademy.org) if you have questions.
Department Work in the New Year
Department work will continue when we return in January. The focus will be on designing Common Core aligned units with rigorous essential questions. PD will be offered around this work. Department heads will continue to work on the development of the PNA Literacy Plan and Writing Process. See Ms. Cook (scook@pablonerudaacademy.org) if you have questions.
Holiday Displays (REMINDER)
Please be aware of and sensitive to the significance of seasonal observances and religious holidays as we work to foster mutual understanding and respect for our school’s diverse religious, racial, ethnic and cultural heritages. The Constitution prohibits a school system from endorsing or promoting a particular religion or belief system. If you are planning on creating a holiday display for your classroom or engaging in holiday associated activities with your students, please see Ms. Cook (scook@pablonerudaacadademy.org) for additional information and guidelines.
Request for Personal Day Form (REMINDER)
Effective immediately, if any staff member is requesting the use of a personal day, the first step is to fill out the Request for Personal Day form. Please use this form as a first step as opposed to verbally requesting approval. See Mr. Liu (dliu@pablonerudaacademy.org) if you have questions. The form can be found on the Forms page of the PNA website. It can also be found at the following link:
Youth Court Referrals (REMINDER)
The PNA Youth Court is now open and will begin holding trials. All staff members are encouraged to use the Youth Court Referral Form to recommend students to the court. Ms. O’Connell and Mr. Dinner will also be gathering data from Skedula in order to find students who could be referred. As a reminder, all staff members are strongly encouraged to attend trials and observe the process. Trials will be held every Tuesday and Thursday at 3:00. See Mr. Dinner (ldinner@pablonerudaacademy.org) or Ms. O’Connell (hoconnell@pablonerudaacademy.org) if you have questions or are interested in attending a trial. The Youth Court Referral form can be found on the Forms page of the PNA website. It can also be found at the following link:
Update to School Calendar (REMNDER)
This week the Chancellor announced that there would be an update to the school calendar as a result of school closures after Hurricane Sandy. All schools will hold full-day sessions from Wednesday, February 20, through Friday, February 22, which were previously scheduled as part of mid-winter recess. Contact Ms. Cook (scook@pablonerudaacademy.org) if you have questions.
