Update Bulletin Boards
In preparation for Thursday’s Family Night, bulletin
boards should be updated with work completed since Parent Conferences. A

Holiday Displays
Please be aware of and sensitive to the significance of seasonal
observances and religious holidays as we work to foster mutual understanding
and respect for our school’s diverse religious, racial, ethnic and cultural
heritages. The Constitution prohibits a school system from endorsing or
promoting a particular religion or belief system. If you are planning on
creating a holiday display for your classroom or engaging in holiday associated

Tone & Culture Walkthrough
A Tone & Culture Walkthrough will be conducted
during SLC classes throughout the week. Data will be collected around selected
Danielson areas aligned to Tone & Culture on the PNA Instructional

This year’s Staff Holiday Party will take place on
Friday from 3:00pm to 7:00pm at Pompeii Lounge. There will also be a Staff

Request for Personal Day Form (REMINDER)
Effective immediately, if any staff member is
requesting the use of a personal day, the first step is to fill out the Request
for Personal Day form. Please use this form as a first step as opposed to

Youth Court Referrals (REMINDER)
The PNA Youth Court is now open and will begin
holding trials. All staff members are encouraged to use the Youth Court
Referral Form to recommend students to the court. Ms. O’Connell and Mr. Dinner
will also be gathering data from Skedula in order to find students who could be
referred. As a reminder, all staff members are strongly encouraged to attend
trials and observe the process. Trials will be held every Tuesday and Thursday

Individual Student Passes Available (REMINDER)
All classrooms have a generic pass that should be
used when students make requests to go to the bathroom or get water. Individual
student passes should be issued when students are sent out of the room for any
other reason (i.e. to go to the main office, social work office, etc.). A pass
has been created for teachers to use for this purpose. Passes are in teacher’s
mailboxes. These passes are not mandatory, but can aide teachers in quickly
writing a pass for a student without significant interruption to instruction.

Update to School Calendar (REMNDER)
This week the Chancellor announced that there would be an update to the
school calendar as a result of school closures after Hurricane Sandy. All
schools will hold full-day sessions from Wednesday, February 20, through
Friday, February 22, which were previously scheduled as part of mid-winter

Issuing Passes (REMINDER)
As a reminder and as stated in the PNA Staff
Handbook, “Students are not permitted to
use the restrooms during the first and last 10 minutes of class or during the
change of period”. This policy applies to students needing a pass for any
reason (water, etc.). Please ensure you are not issuing any passes during the
