Spring Recess – Securing of personal belongings and laptop carts
To prepare for the spring recess please ensure all items are safely secured.  As stated in the PNA Staff Handbook, “ALWAYS lock your personal belongings and valuables such as purses, laptops, etc.  Lock each classroom door whenever you leave the room.”  Beginning 4th period on Friday, April 22nd, technology carts will be removed from classrooms in preparation for spring recess.
Quality Review
Thank you to all staff for presenting our school to its fullest potential this past Tuesday.  The final report will not be shared with us until the end of May.  I would like to share the initial feedback that defines our area of focus and area of celebration that was recently provided by our reviewer.  The initial feedback can be accessed at the following link: https://drive.google.com/a/pablonerudaacademy.org/file/d/0B3PxGWud2LygQ1oxOE9NOEZHNW8/view?usp=sharing
Declaration of Intent forms
Declaration of intent forms have been placed in all teacher mailboxes.  Please fill out all sections and return to Mr. Valencia by May 6th 2016.  A copy of the form can be found at the following link: https://drive.google.com/a/pablonerudaacademy.org/file/d/0B3PxGWud2LygcVktMm1Fc0w1V0E/view?usp=sharing
NYSESLAT Testing - Speaking
All ELL students are required to take the NYSESLAT each spring.  The first of the four parts of the exam is the Speaking section.  Ms. Wanda and Ms. Niove will be pulling students out of class individually to administer this portion of the exam.  The Speaking administration will take place from April 13th – 22nd.  Please allow Ms. Wanda and Ms. Niove to use your classroom for testing (if no class is in session).
Students Returning from a Long Term Absence
Please note that students who are returning to your class after a long absence or suspension are particularly sensitive to student and teacher responses.  Please support their return by helping them transition back to your classroom routines.  If you need additional information on returning students, please contact Ms. Del Valle (jdelvalle@pablonerudaacademy.org)
Basketball Club
We are thrilled to have over 20 student members participating in this semester’s basketball club.  Please follow normal disciplinary procedures with these students.  Document all challenges in Skedula and keep Deans and Admin in the loop.  The safety team will speak with club advisors on your behalf.
Co-Planning opportunity
Thanks to the hard work of the Grants and Partnerships team, we were able to secure a grant to support the ELLs in our school.  Part of the grant money will allow Ms. Linares and Ms. Theoharides to co-plan with teachers that do not have ELL push in services.  If you are interested in taking advantage of this opportunity, you may contact Ms. Linares (wlinares@pablonerudaacademy.org) or Ms. Theoharides (NTheoharides@pablonerudaacademy.org) to set up your co-planning sessions.
