Consolidation Updates – School Name; Next meeting
On April 26th we established the combined Student Culture and Orientation Team.  The work can be found in our ongoing Consolidation Agenda.  The next step for the team is to share the plans with the whole staff and invite staff who were not at the meeting if they are interested in any of the events planned for Current Students, Incoming Students, and Current Staff.  Please look at the agenda and if you are interested, please send an email to Mr. Liu (dliu@pablonerudaacademy.org) indicating which group(s) you would like to be a part of (Current Students, Incoming Students, and Current Staff).
Staff Appreciation Week
This has been a challenging year for everyone, and I wanted to thank all of you for your hard work and support balancing the needs of the students and working towards a consolidated school.  I want to share how proud I am, in a year where Administration did not have time to monitor all aspects of our school, the staff leaders and teams were able to continue the work and continue developing innovative strategies, a true sign of distributive leadership.  Next week we will be offering continental breakfast for Monday, extra paper for Wednesday, and some new school wear celebrating our new school name on Friday.
Open Market Hiring System
The New York City Open Market Hiring System has opened and will be available through August. The system is used by teachers and other staff to view and apply for opportunities across the city. The system can be accessed at the following link: https://www.nycenet.edu/offices/dhr/transferplane/default.aspx
End of day procedures (Reminder)
All teachers should ensure that students do not leave class before the end of the day bell rings at 3:00PM/3:45PM.  The tone and culture of every class should promote students asking for permission to leave the classroom, and not that students can freely walk in and out of class during the lesson and at the end of the day.  All teachers must also ensure student chairs are put up at the end of each day. Additionally, all student chairs should be taken down at the beginning of each day. Please have students take down all chairs, even if no one will be sitting in the chair during the period.
ISA Summer Institute
The Institute for Student Achievement organizes a Summer Institute annually.  The Summer Institute is designed for individual schools to develop and create strategic plans for the new school year.  If you are interested in participating we ask that you fill out the following form.  Room and board will be provided to participants.  The Institute will be held at the Glen Cove Mansion Hotel from the evening of June 28th to the afternoon of June 30th.
PD’s and Pilots
·          IO (Skedula) Assessment Pilot – IO has selected our school to be one of 30 schools nationwide to beta test their new IO Assessment program.  The program is meant for educators to create assessments online that will produce answer sheets that can be scanned back into the system via a PDF file.  If you are interested in using and testing the system, please email Mr. Liu (dliu@pablonerudaacademy.org) by May 1st.
·          Google Classroom (Paid Training) – Mr. Munoz, at APPA in conjunction with Ilearn, is offering Google Classroom PDs on our campus.  These trainings will be paid by the ILearn Office.  The trainings are offered from 4-7pm on May 17th (Link to Register); or June 7th (Link to Register)
·          May 26th PD Time – Many of you have gone to amazing PD’s this year, and have asked to share out the information.  We will be offering May 26ths PD time as a differentiated PD.  If you are interested in presenting a PD, please email Mr. Liu
