·          NYSESLAT – NYSESLAT testing has concluded, give some praise and love to Ms. Linares and Ms. Theohardes for surviving another year.
Consolidation Updates –
The newly established consolidated Student Culture and Orientation Team has begun working on events for staff and students; you can follow the work on the ongoing Consolidation Agenda.  Teacher meetings in regards to teacher initial programs for next year with the principal will begin this week.
Parking Permits –
The UFT and CSA have reached an agreement with the NYC Department of Education in regards to awarding parking permits for each union member.  These parking permits are only valid at this building and cannot be used at other DOE buildings.  The permits have been given to Ms. Mezzina for distribution among the chapter.
Air Conditioners –
Please keep your Air Conditioners at 70 degrees.  The temperature setting does not affect the cooling temperature of the air conditioner, it sets the temperature in which the A/C can shut off and go into fan mode.  Keeping it at 70 will allow the A/C to shut off at night, thus preserving the longevity of the unit.  Mayor DeBlasio is supporting A/C for all schools, so we have been instructed to not purchase new A/C’s before this summer and wait for them to be centrally funded, which means if they break, it will take a long time for them to be replaced.
Open Market Hiring System
The New York City Open Market Hiring System has opened and will be available through August. The system is used by teachers and other staff to view and apply for opportunities across the city. The system can be accessed at the following link: https://www.nycenet.edu/offices/dhr/transferplane/default.aspx
End of day procedures (Reminder)
All teachers should ensure that students do not leave class before the end of the day bell rings at 3:00PM/3:45PM.  The tone and culture of every class should promote students asking for permission to leave the classroom, and not that students can freely walk in and out of class during the lesson and at the end of the day.  All teachers must also ensure student chairs are put up at the end of each day. Additionally, all student chairs should be taken down at the beginning of each day. Please have students take down all chairs, even if no one will be sitting in the chair during the period.
