Summer School

Session Two Credit Recovery continues this week. Summer classes run Monday through Thursday from 8:30 to 11:00 and 11:10 to 1:40. Students are recovering credits in the following courses during session 2:

- Physical & Life Science with Ms. Reyes

- English with Mr. Russell

- Social Studies with Mr. Browne

Session two ends on Thursday, July 28th. If you have questions, please email Mr. Liu (dliu2@schools.nyc.gov).

Regents Preparation, Proctoring, and Grading

Teachers are need for Regents preparation for the August administration. Regents prep classes will run for two sessions at two hours each beginning on August 10th and ending on August 16th. Teachers are needed for the following prep classes:

- Global Studies & US History: 1 teacher needed

- English (2 sessions): 1 teacher needed

- Living Environment (2 sessions): 1 teacher needed

- Integrated Algebra & Geometry: 1 teacher needed

Teachers are also needed for exam proctoring and grading. Summer Regents exams will be administered on Wednesday, August 17th and Thursday, August 18th. Friday, August 19th will be used for grading. If you are interested in assisting with preparation, proctoring, or grading, contact Mr. Liu (dilu2@schools.nyc.gov) as soon as possible.

Summer Bridge Continues

The first session of Summer Bridge Ends on Friday, July 29th. Thank you to Mr. Torres and Mr. Barnes for leading this session. Ms. Reyes and Mr. Dinozo will be leading the second session. Students will continue to work on Math and Literacy skills, as well as engage in teambuilding activities with the support of BISCEP. If you are interested in volunteering to be a part of Bridge activities, please contact Ms. Heller (aheller7@schools.nyc.gov).

Teachers Needed for 2011 – 2012 School Year (UPDATED)

PNA is looking to hire a Living Environment teacher, Integrated Algebra teacher and a special education teacher for next year. If you know any qualified candidates, please encourage them to forward their resume to Ms. Heller (aheller7@schools.nyc.gov).

Professional Development Opportunity

The New York City Writing Project and our network have collaborated to offer all teachers in the network the opportunity to attend professional development entitled “Building Argument from a World of Text”. Participants of this PD will look at reading, writing, and the NYS Common Core Standards. This PD is open to teachers from all content areas. The PD sessions will take place on Wednesday, August 3rd and Thursday, August 4th. Interested teachers should email Ms. Cook (scook6@schools.nyc.gov).

Curriculum Week Cancelled (REMINDER)

Due to budget cuts, this year’s Curriculum Week has been cancelled. All teachers officially report on Tuesday September 6th. Teachers will engage in two full days of professional development on Tuesday, September 6th and Wednesday September 7th. As a reminder, curriculum maps aligned the new Common Core State Standards are due for all courses by the end of the day on Tuesday, September 6th. Teams and pairs of teachers are encouraged to utilize PNA space to work on curriculum planning throughout the summer. Interested teachers should contact Ms. Cook (scook6@schools.nyc.gov). PNA will be open on Monday, August 29th for teachers to come in a plan and set-up their classrooms.

Open Market Hiring System for Transfers (REMINDER)
