January Regents

On August 7th the mayor announced the return of the January Regents exams. The exams will take place January 24th through 27th.

Summer School & Regents Preparation Classes

Session Three Credit Recovery ends on Tuesday. Regents preparation classes will begin on Wednesday, August 10th. The following Regents preparation classes will be offered:

- Algebra & Geometry

- Global Studies & US History

- English

- Living Environment & Earth Science

Regents Preparation, Proctoring, and Grading

Teachers are need for Regents preparation for the August administration. Regents prep classes will run for two sessions at two hours each beginning on August 10th and ending on August 16th. Teachers are needed for the following prep classes:

- Global Studies & US History: 1 teacher needed

- English (2 sessions): 1 teacher needed

- Living Environment (2 sessions): 1 teacher needed

- Integrated Algebra & Geometry: 1 teacher needed

Teachers are also needed for exam proctoring and grading. Summer Regents exams will be administered on Wednesday, August 17th and Thursday, August 18th. Friday, August 19th will be used for grading. If you are interested in assisting with preparation, proctoring, or grading, contact Mr. Liu (dilu2@schools.nyc.gov) as soon as possible.

Teachers Needed for 2011 – 2012 School Year (UPDATED)

PNA is still looking to hire a Science teacher and a special education teacher for next year. If you know any qualified candidates, please encourage them to forward their resume to Ms. Heller (aheller7@schools.nyc.gov).

Common Core Professional Development Opportunity

The network is offering Professional Development on the Common Core State Standards on Wednesday, August 31st and Thursday, September 1st. This will be a good opportunity to get a jump start on the work that all teachers will be required to engage in around the creation of Common Core State Standard aligned performance tasks. Teachers are encouraged to attend, since Curriculum Week has been cancelled. Email Ms. Cook (scook6@schools.nyc.gov) if you are interested.

Curriculum Week Cancelled (REMINDER)

Due to budget cuts, this year’s Curriculum Week has been cancelled. All teachers officially report on Tuesday September 6th. Teachers will engage in two full days of professional development on Tuesday, September 6th and Wednesday September 7th. As a reminder, curriculum maps aligned the new Common Core State Standards are due for all courses by the end of the day on Tuesday, September 6th. Teams and pairs of teachers are encouraged to utilize PNA space to work on curriculum planning throughout the summer. Interested teachers should contact Ms. Cook (scook6@schools.nyc.gov). PNA will be open on Monday, August 29th for teachers to come in a plan and set-up their classrooms.
