Consolidation Questions
On Tuesday, January 17th, Superintendent Staple informed both Pablo Neruda Academy and The Bronx Guild that there is a proposal for the schools to consolidate.  The primary factor in this decision is the declining and stagnating registers of both schools.  We have created a form for questions as we move forward with the proposal.  Questions will be answered on an ongoing basis.  The form can be found at the following link: https://docs.google.com/a/pablonerudaacademy.org/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSc7e0vmpCHmjorueR2-OlUkagTu5rCsZmUjL3lG09QcCIN58Q/viewform
Elevator Key
Starting January 31st the large elevator will be switched to key only.  If you need an elevator key, please send an email to Mr. Liu (dliu@pablonerudaacademy.org) by January 24th.
Peer Mediation - A training opportunity for teachers
The Office of Safety and Youth Development is offering professional development in conflict resolution to schools to build their capacity to engage and empower students in creating and sustaining a safe and supportive school environment for all students and staff.  You are invited to be trained in Peer Mediation to help address student-to-student conflicts.  The Peer Mediation courses will be offered over the course of 6 Saturdays starting February 11th.  Participants will receive training pay/overtime -or-  P-Credit.
Restorative Justice and classroom management support
As part of the NYCDOE’s support in youth development, a Restorative Justice Coordinator, Joye Harper, will be available Thursdays and Fridays to connect, observe, give feedback, and collaborate with our staff on the effectiveness of using restorative practices in the classroom.  Staff who are interested in support may connect with Ms. Harper at joyeharper@yahoo.com and/or stop by her office in room 279.  She is available for class visits, demos, and one on one training.
